WASSMUTH CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TOUR

Join your fellow HRATV members, August 18th @ 4:30 p.m. or 19th @ 12:30 p.m.  Each tour will take approximately 90 mins and we will tour the outdoor monument, new classroom and education center as well as a virtual introduction to four holocaust survivors and one survivor from the Nanjing Massacre.   Each tour can accommodate up to 25 participants.

The year 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, and they're looking forward to the dawn of a new era of continued program growth. The City of Boise has offered the opportunity to build a permanent center within the licensing agreement of the land designated as the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial. Not only is the Memorial the only Anne Frank memorial in the United States, it is also one of the few places in the world in which the entire text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is on permanent display, and it is recognized as an international Site of Conscience.

The dramatic presence of a comprehensive human rights education center will add to the state’s reputation as both a welcoming and compassionate community in the capital city.  The new Wassmuth Center for Human Rights will blend into the Memorial landscape, providing both a focal backdrop behind the central waterfall in the Memorial and adding an expanded buffer zone between the memorial and 9th Street traffic. Designed by local firm Erstad Architects, the building will enhance both the physical and spatial impact of the memorial.
